Hi.
I've been researching different cat foods, and this site has been a very valuable source of information. Although the recalls are over, they still concern me very much, and I am hesitant to feed my cats foods by the manufacturers involved in the recall. Most people think I'm taking my concerns too far. But in my opinion, safety is the most important aspect of a pet food.

I've read that the Purina dog food pouches recalled in 2007 were made by Menu. Does Purina still use Menu? If so, are any other Purina products made by Menu? (Also, are any Del Monte pet foods made by Menu?)

Thank you very much!

MissK:

I was going to reply to your question & tell you that your best bet is to call the pfc directly & ask them any questions you might have about their food.  Then this morning I read this article by Susan Thixton........I think this answers your question & then some:

http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com/articles/506/1/What-we-have-to-go-through-to-get-the-Truth/Page1.html

Sometimes difficult to get answers to your questions but it won't hurt to try!  May take more than one email but it pays to be persistent.

Good luck! Tongue

Got a reply from Purina...of course, I didn't get the simple yes-or-no answers I asked for.

0.6% of Purina products from the US are made in facilities not owned by Purina. They didn't say which products.
Purina says there will be a small difference on the label. "Manufactured" by Purina means just that. "Distributed" by Purina means someplace else manufactures it.

They didn't say that they don't use Menu. So I'm assuming they still do.

Now, I'll have to check my Friskies can and see which it says. Hopefully "manufactured". I guess I'll email Del Monte and ask them the same thing.

Thank you Hannie for the article!
