My cats used to like the Merrick before the consistancy of the food changed and they would no longer eat it. Also the fact that Merrick owns rendering plants does not thrill me.  Tongue

My friend and I both tried this. Neither dog would eat it. This was w while ago. I don't think they liked the taste very well.

Agree about the rendering plant thought.

I know this is an old thread but I'd like to say a few words about Merrick if you don't mind........ Tongue

I do know about the rendering plant (do you really think they are the only ones who use this in their pet food?) but I do want to clarify something posted earlier on this thread.  I always thought Merrick made all their own food......somebody posted their canned was done by Menu.  I looked it up on TPFL (thanks, Therese):

    *  Their only brand is Merrick
    * No products made by Menu Foods
    * All Merrick foods, dry, canned, and treats are made in their own facility.
    * All ingredients are from the US
    * Products do not contain wheat gluten

Not sure what's going on right now but I was under the impression that they did make their own food.

I have had Hannah on their canned (like Grammy's Pot Pie & Turducken........I recently purchased the cans of meat & water only), I've used BG dry a couple of times & I recently bought the little sample bags (dry) of Grammy's Pot Pie, Wilderness Blend & Turducken.  She loves the GPP (loves the canned too), haven't opened others yet.

So far, Hannah likes all the canned & dry that I've given to her & I haven't seen any problems at all.

Far be it from me to defend any PFC........but if Hannah likes something & does well on it, I feel it's only fair to let people know.  Plus, many people may stay away from the canned because they think Menu cans for them........I honestly don't know for sure but I think that's incorrect.

Correct me if I'm wrong.  I don't mind....... Wink

Hannie you are correct! Merrick produces both their canned and dry foods in house.

Thanx for that info, Bonkers......that's what I thought.  I was told a while ago that they made all their products in their own facility which is why I felt the need to correct that earlier post.

I think it's important to keep other pet parents informed not only of those foods that have made your fur baby sick but those that have worked well for them.  Every little fur baby is different.......what's good for one is not necessarily good for another.  However, it gives you a starting point & then you can decide on your own.

Hey, what's fair is fair....... Shocked
