Arrow Brand Dog Food, sold in Louisiana and Texas, is being recalled due to aflatoxin. I spoke with someone at O’Neal’s Feeders Supply Inc., distributors of Arrow this morning. I was told that it is a private label food manufactured for them by Cargill. As you might recall, last week Cargill recalled their River Run and Marksman brand dog foods. Here's the info: DeRidder, Louisiana – O’Neal’s Feeders Supply, Inc. today announced a voluntary recall of its dry Arrow Brand DOG FOOD – because it contains corn which was detected to have higher than the acceptable levels of aflatoxin.. The affected products were manufactured between Dec. 1, 2010, and Dec. 1, 2011. No illnesses have been reported in association with these products to date. Affected products are:
ARROWBRAND 21% Dog Chunks SKU #807 40 lb. bag ARROWBRAND Super Proeaux Dog Food SKU #812 40 lb. bag ARROWBRAND Professional Formula Dog Food SKU #814 50 lb. bag
The recall only applies to the above products with the following Packaging Date Codes 4K0335 to 4K1335.
The affected dry dog food products were distributed in the state of Louisiana and Texas. Retailers have already been instructed to remove the affected brands and products from store shelves.
While no adverse health effects related to these products have been reported, O’Neal’s Feeders Supply, Inc. is implementing this recall as a precautionary measure. Consumers are urged to return affected products – whether in opened or unopened packages – to their place of purchase for a full refund. For more information, contact 800-256-2769 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring mold by-product. Advanced Animal Nutrition in Thayer, MO has issued a pet food recall of some of their dry dog foods due to aflatoxin. THAYER — A Missouri-based company is recalling three dry dog food products because of high levels of the fungus aflatoxin. Advanced Animal Nutrition of Thayer on Friday voluntarily recalled 50-pound bags each of Dog Power Adult Maintenance Formula 21-12, Dog Power Hunters Formula 27-14 and Dog Power Hi-Pro Performance Formula 26-18. The company says no illnesses have been reported. The products were distributed in Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana. Consumers can return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund. The recall applies to products with the packaging codes K0004 through K1322. Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring chemical that comes from a fungus sometimes found on corn and in other crops. It can cause severe liver damage and in rare cases death. I spoke with someone at the company and was told they found aflatoxin in one of the ingredients but not in any finished products. However, to be cautious, they are recalling the products mentioned above. **************** Advanced Animal Nutrition does not have a website. There is another company with the same name in Australia, but I was told it is not related to the Advanced Animal Nutrition in Thayer, MO.
