:oBelow is taken from Nature's Logic website. I'm not sure what to do now. I recently began feeding this from Wellness b/c Wellness, at least in part is made by American Nutrition, the company who has been depositing Rice Protein into any food they feel like apparently with out the Pet food brand knowing about it. My cats do like it. What's the deal about artichokes and tomatoe powder? Why are these ingredients bad? If anyone has fouind the perfect cat/dog food, please share.
What is “animal plasma” and what is the source? "In nature, dogs and cats are meat eating predators, what scientists call carnivores. When wild dogs or cats consume their prey they eat the entire animal, including hair, bones, entrails, BLOOD, stomach contents, etc. The animal blood is as natural a part of a carnivore’s diet as the meat and bone consumed from prey. No life exists without blood, and the nutrients it provides as part of the diet of carnivorous animals is essential. Nature’s Logic's animal plasma is a highly palatable food (spray dried blood with red cells removed) composed of high levels of important albumin and globulin proteins. In the wild, carnivores do not eat diets supplemented by chemically synthesized vitamins and minerals. The Nature's Logic animal plasma is an important natural food ingredient which supplies natural sources of iron, sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, numerous vitamins, and over 18 amino acids. These nutrients found naturally in animal blood plasma play a huge role in creating a safer and more natural diet without the need for potentially toxic chemically synthesized supplements. Besides supplying these nutrients naturally, research shows this product increases palatability of food, reduces stool volume due to increased digestibility, improves stool quality versus control diets, significantly improves fiber and phosphorus digestion, and enhances immune response in dogs vaccinated for Parvo. Sources are bovine for domestic product and porcine for exported product. The product is collected at USDA meat processing plants and is further processed at state of the art facilities in Iowa and Kansas."

After phoning Evangers about the Vit K (Menadione) in their food, they immediately faxed me a letter from the president of the company stating that they no longer put Vit K (Menadoine) in any of their food as of Aug. 2006. Best by dates after Aug./2011 do not contain Menadoine, although the lable says it does--You know that whole have to use up our old lables thing, which actually doesn't make a whole lot of sense, since they just changed their labeling and it has Menadoine on it!? Anyway, this is one of the few remaining foods I feed my cats and they like it so, so. Actually, I am now only feeding them foods that contain no grains b/c grains seem to be the source of contamination, so I'm only giving them the Evangers Organic Turkey and Squash, Merrick(the flavors that contain no grains) & up until this morning I was giving them Wellness, which contain no grains, but in light of the whole American Nutrition thing, I have stopped all Wellness. I have recently switched from Wellness dry b/c it has rice in it to Nature's Logic dry (no grain). Also, give them rare beef, cooked chicken--only one cat will eat my home cooking and Spot's Stew freeze dried treats(lamb, chicken and salmon) Dogs are eating The Honest Kitchen mixed with Evangers all meat ie: Hunk of Beed, Organic Braised Chicken and occasssionally Stop's Stew. Currently, they are eating Innova dry (contains rice), but I'm switching to Nature's Logic dry b/c it does not contain any grain

I'm another vegeterian(25 years and counting & I'm only 36), who just finished cutting up rare (slightly cooked, but still bloody) beef cubes for my 2 cats and two dogs. My intentions were to fully cook it, but when I put it on the counter one of my cats immediately jumped up, ripped the plastic wrap off of the meat and swiped a totally rare cube. He was acting like a wild animal, running around with this piece of meat, hissing, tail all puffed out and then he started tearing it apart and eating it. I couldn't get it off of him. Even though I was concerned that he was eating it completely raw, it really did seem natural for him, so I decided to only slightly cook the rest of the meat, which they all loved, including my 15 yr. old cat with kidney disease(diagnosed 5 years ago). Once the predator was finished, he was back to being my cuddley fat cat. My one dog got slightly aggressive too after his blood soaked meal. He settled down eventually. Has anyone else experieced these behavioral changes? Also, is it okay to just give them an uncooked piece of beef? These home cooked(uncooked) meat meals are only a supplement to their diet. Dogs eat The Health Kitchen (dehydrated raw food, only slightly cooked to kill any potential bacteria)-they absolutley love it, great ingredients and give cats wellness canned/dry.

I've read that issue is still up for debate and something like only the core of the avacado is toxic. I've been doing so much research that I'm forgeting details. I just know that I researched the avacado issue and made a personal determination that it was okay I should start taking notes. Thanks again.

I can live with that!! I try to keep my kidney cat's protein a little on the low side anyway and sometimes that means more carbs. Thanks for the info. One less thing to worry about in my pet food obsession. I have soo many different types and brands of cat/dog food right now, I could open up a pet food store out of my house.

What kind of "bad stuff" is in the Evanger's Pheasant canned cat food? I have been feeding this to my cat, who already has kidney disease(unrelated to recalls) and she likes it.
