16  Dry and Wet Foods / California Natural / Re: How is everybody doing on Cal Nat cat formulas? on: July 26, 2007, 11:41:12 PM
Well I was on the California Natural Chicken and Rice Dry untill this whole Natura thing happened. I just bought a new bag, expiration date May 08, and I examined it and found it had big black chunks embedded in it. It scared me, since I read Donnas story in Itchmo, with those chunks testing positive for acetemenophen(cant spell) and cyanuric acid. I feel horrible having to take it away from the kitties, mainly my one kitty that has a sensitive stomach. The bags I had been using before, exp Feb 08, were perfectly fine. I might go on the hunt for those bags but not many places carry it around here. The one store I get it at only have April and May 08 bags.

For now the kitties are loving Kumpikat, Merrick canned, Wellness Turkey Salmon canned, and They are unsure about the New Wellness dry I bought. I really need that California natural back for kitty Cooper!! I hope they fix the problem!

18  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Re: NOW what are you feeding? on: June 15, 2007, 10:41:31 PM
Thanks you EVERYONE for your replies! I appreciate them so so much. Smiley  I forgot to mention treats I give also. I have been giving Halo freeze dried chicken and lamb treats, baby food mixed with water, and KumpiKat. (They love kumpi, but over eat it because it tasted so good, so now I give it as a treat!)

Thanks guys!!
19  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / NOW what are you feeding? on: June 15, 2007, 02:55:25 PM
Okay its been a few months since the recall and there are less and less comments on this site. I would like to know what everyone is feeding now??

My cats are still eating California Natural Dry and they WERE eating Evangers canned....until today when i found small pieces of bone in the Organic Turkey and Squash. Now I have NO clue what canned to give them. Maybe Merrick...?? Not sure I trust Natura canned yet...

Feedback??  Smiley
20  Cats / General Cat Health Discussion / Re: Looking for a pet-friendly way to rid house of bugs on: June 13, 2007, 12:01:44 PM
We had ants in our bathroom. I mix dawn liquid dish soap and white vinegar in a spray bottle (I read it somewhere on the internet) I sprayed it all along the baseboards. It worked. They havent been back on months! And it also kills them if you spray directly on them.

I agree. We should call. I dont ever get fast email responses, but can always talk to someone as soon as I call. I also think they have done a great job keeping on top of the recall. They always listen to what we have to say.

I was under the impression that they used Midwest labs to test for the toxins. I didnt know they tested in house for those things. Thats very odd. I wouldnt trust that, but then again Im not sure I trust Midwest labs now either. GRR.

I started getting nervous when I read that about Midwest Labs on Itchmo too. I feed all my animals Natura foods. Apparently Midwest labs uses GC/MS for testing and the Texas lab uses LC/MS/MS which is a new more sensitive way of testing. That makes me very very nervous that Midwest labs wont catch the toxins unless it is an extensive amount.

And why does Natura need a backup for testing?
23  Dry and Wet Foods / Merrick / Re: Merrick Canned Cat Food on: June 10, 2007, 03:43:34 PM
I havent tried the New England Boil. Ill have to get that one too!!  Smiley  Is it okay to switch around flavors of wet food all the time? We havent had a problem yet. The dry food is always the same, but we always try different flavors of can food. Anyone know if thats ok?
24  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Adding Halo Treats to Wet food! on: June 09, 2007, 03:46:53 PM
I just thought Id share something thats working for me right now. My cats are so finicky when it comes to wet food. One day they eat it,one day they dont. Well today I added Halo Freeze dried Chicken treats crumbled up to a powder on top of the Evangers Turkey and Squash. It was a hit!! I am so happy! I normally just give the halo chicken and lamb as a treat, but it really works for getting them to eat the wet food! Just a suggestion for people having a hard time getting their kitties to eat wet food!
25  Dry and Wet Foods / Merrick / Re: Merrick Canned Cat Food on: June 08, 2007, 09:38:26 PM
So I decided after a month or so of boycotting Merrick to try out the Ocean breeze for my cats. They went crazy for it! They dont go crazy for ANY wet food (unless its baby food). I think I have a winner. Anyone else have any luck with this flavor?

My cats love these treats too. Especially the freeze dried lamb. Its 50% fat though. Is that safe to give to cats everyday? Anyone know?

So I have three cats. All 1 year and a half old. My husband loves them but also wanted a dog. So we got a yellow lab female puppy. Does anyone have both dogs and cats? Do they get along?I am so scared for my cats. I dont want them to be harmed or scared or unhappy! I need advice and success stories!
30  Dry and Wet Foods / By Nature / Re: By Nature on: May 30, 2007, 10:59:52 PM
Sylvia,
This was the email I got.
Hi Lacy,

We have our organic canned formulas made for us by Evangers, a small, family-owned cannery located in Illinois.

If you have any questions or need more information, please let me know.

Tedd Ellis, Vice President
Consumer Brands Division
Blue Seal

Does by nature have pouches? Im guessing on the info we both have that if they do, they are made in China, and canned at Evangers? If they dont have pouches....then I am lost.
