Yes, we have (currently) 4 dogs and 3 cats.
The oldest dog is 15, the youngest 2.5. The oldest cat is 18, the youngest 9.
The youngest dog prefers cats and hates the other dogs. The other dogs merely tolerate each other. None of those like the cats to be near them, and will snap at them if they get "too" close.
The cats all hate each other (except for the male who like to 'wife beat' the females), AND the female cats both hate all the dogs. The male likes to 'burrow' in the longhaired dogs fur....sometimes that is tolerated.
It's been my experience and observation that if cats and dogs are raised together from babies...they get along much better. Unfortunately, in my case since all mine are rescues...it hardly happens that way for me.

Thanks for the kind words...believe it or not that was more than I got out of the Kaiser Hospital doctor...."So, I guess you were right," And yes, I was this short of peritonitis. Before the "information age," it was 'find the right books.' So you should see my house! An overfilled bookcase in every room! Most of them are published in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Now I don't know what to do with most of them, as the info is outdated. If I don't read them anymore...they still hold associative memories!

That's right.
BTW, regarding your comment about "what do I know." If you recognize that problem that kids have nowadays with the "gimmies," then you are already on your way to knowing a lot. One of the easiest things a parent can do is stand up to their kids....and lo and behold, many of them do not! And once the kids get used to getting what they want every time they demand it..it becomes a habit....THEN it gets hard to stand up to them.

Hey thanks for that. And kudos to your vet who doesn't get all bent out of shape that you are doing these tests on your own!
We were just discussing here how are we going to get the urine out of animals when needed! Boy, we've got some work to do!

Yep!
I lost my trust to Dr's when I was misdiagnosed of an ectopic pregnancy back in 83' even though there was already documented classic symptoms at that time...I was told it "was all in my head." I guess they knew it wasn't when the thing ruptured!
And vets...don't get me started. Some of the most arrogant people I have known have been vets!
My all time favorites though are those reps in Pet Smart pushing their food...like the one Babs was talking about in an earlier post. When I USED to go to that store it was occasionally kinda fun to render them speechless with info they had no clues about!

Yes, I do use garlic in the case of infection or inflamation in my dogs. I usually use in conjuction with probiotics, and run the course of it about as long as a course of conventional anti-biotics would go.

Omega 3 is probably the best bet. The stuff I buy at Costco made by Nature Made is molecular distilled to remove the toxins, and it has anchovy and sardine fish oils in it.
