31  Dry and Wet Foods / Nature's Logic / Re: Nature's Logic on: August 08, 2007, 05:10:06 PM
Smiley Nature's logic looks like a pretty good food to me. It was my understanding that it is manufactured by Crosswinds when I looked into it some months back. Have seen nothing  negative about it.

As for montmorillonite clay, used in alternative medicine:

It is also used in Koi ponds both for the health of the fish and the proper maintainance of the water.
32  Other Pet Topics / Vaccinations / Re: Feline vaccination dangers on: August 05, 2007, 11:47:14 AM
Excellent article Davis. I have so few articles on cats as I only have dogs. I have been researching vaccinations/dogs for seven years. The saddest part for me is the fact that vets have had access to so much  of this info on the deleterious effect of vaccinations on cats and dogs for many years now but just"keep on pushing them."  Money Huh
This is as serious a problem as the pet food problems but stays under the radar as the toxic effects are often slower. Pet owners don't make the connection and vets won't tell.
Well look what we are doing to our kids. Schools require so many vaccines now no wonder the rise in autism and other problems. Why? Money for the drug companies Huh
33  Other Pet Topics / Vaccinations / Latest information on vaccination protocols for canines/felines on: July 30, 2007, 02:38:35 PM
Hi all,
In the fall of 2000 I lost a beautiful, healthy dog to annual vaccination boosters in six days. It was a painful, nasty death even though everything was done to help him. It was shortly after this that I learned of the research out there indicating that what happened to Rave was not so unusual. I have been researching this topic ever since and have changed what I ALLOW in the way of vaccinations - almost none.
Below are just a few sites you can start with but there are tons more you can find using google. You will see Dr Jean Dodds of UC Davis and Dr Ronald Schultz come up a lot as they are among the foremost researchers in this area. You can find Dr Dodds 2007 recommended protocol by googling in Jean Dodds 2007 vaccination protocol.

I have more on dogs than cats as I have no cat presently. I know Cornell has done a lot of research on feline vaccination and new protocols and the AAHA has new guidlines on vaccinating cats.
The following site has a variety of articles on both dogs and cats:

Some breeds are much more susceptible than others.

Shocked oops! I made some errors entering these site but they should be correct now.
34  Dry and Wet Foods / Natural Balance / Re: Is NB even around anymore? on: July 29, 2007, 05:28:13 PM
Natural balance is still around and advertising in Petco's flier today along with Nutro, Royal Canin, etc. (7/29/07). "Buy any 15 or 17 lb bag, get 2 13oz cans free."
I am not surprised at all as most people are back to buying previously recalled dry foods, Menu, Diamond and other formerly recalled canned foods and playing pet food roulette with their dogs and cats health. It's hard to believe when there are choices out there with no history of any problem at all, EVER. It may take a little time to find them but in my mind my dogs are worth it. Oh well I say fool me once shame on you but if you fool me twice shame on me. Those who continue to have problems with pet food will have to look to themselves sooner or later.

35  Forum Issues / Suggestions for new boards / Re: New Board Suggestions on: July 28, 2007, 09:19:02 AM
Maybe starting a board on pet vaccinations would be helpful and interesting. Research has changed so much on what vets should /should not be doing. I lost a dog to vaccinosis in 2000 and learned so much after that. Many vets ignore the new guidelines altogether. A cousin who is a vet says many vets consider the "annuals" their bread and butter. If anyone is interested I have lots of info and numerous sites with info from real experts/researchers not pet parents. Just a thought.

36  Dry and Wet Foods / Wysong / Re: Wysong on: July 28, 2007, 09:11:20 AM
Grin Hi Garypen, so sorry if you were confused by my entry of 7/23. Let me redo for you.
Fed Wysong for 7 years. Dogs were/are happy,  healthy, 2 got AKC championships in that time.
In Jan or Feb decided to see what was out there in dog food "just for a change".
Decided to try Innova Evo by Natura. Dogs all got bad diahrrea within a short time even though I slowly mixed the two foods. Went back to Wysong. End of problem!
Found this site when the recalls began. Found the continual attacks on Evy Serpa interesting even though she was trying to do what people claimed they wanted; a dog food president trying to respond to pet owners.
Read all the info Therese had on different foods, contacted Evy and ordered her food in April. No problem with the transition to Kumpi, dogs love it, sevice is outstanding.
Read what people on the forum were saying about Honest Kitchen and decided to try it. Dogs love FORCE. Use it as a topper to Kumpi as well as fresh fish, chicken, veggies, sometimes beef. Buy no canned since the recalls and won't in the foreseeable future.
My point: Wysong, Kumpi, Honest Kitchen have never had a whisper of a problem. My intention for changing foods had ZERO to do with the recalls. People feeding them had no reason to change. They are not the only foods out there with a good record. The others can be found through Therese's hard work. I don't name them as I have not used them.
I only put my info on this site to help people looking for safe, quality foods. Do not care who tries them and who does not. People do as they wish. I am no different. Have a good weekend. Cool
37  Dry and Wet Foods / Wysong / Re: Wysong on: July 24, 2007, 06:55:08 AM
You can certainly keep worrying about "politics" and changing foods. I have not had to change foods for my dogs since this  recall mess began except dropping ALL canned for fresh toppings. We all have our priorities  Grin.

38  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Re: God punish China!!! on: July 24, 2007, 06:50:12 AM
Nick:
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were JAPANESE cities not CHINESE. Many innocent civilians died horrible deaths and that is why no one has used those bombs since.
As for our "poor, beleagured corporations"; it is called GREED not pressure. Are you listening to too much right wing talk radio? Stop buying cheap junk and our leaders will stop importing it.
So sorry about your cat. Please see what you can find out about the cause and alert the forum.
39  Dry and Wet Foods / Wysong / Re: Wysong on: July 23, 2007, 08:04:33 AM
Grin Sure makes a lot of sense to me. Why use a food that is recommended by one of Jenny's favorite experts, that has not had a whisper of a problem through all of this fiasco, that is of excellent quality, offers multiple choices to include the vegetarian, the no grain "believer",the allergic animal, etc., etc. when you can keep switching your pets around on foods and companies that keep upsetting and disappointing you?  Not to mention what this does to the little guys' digestive symptoms.
In retrospect perhaps Wysong's criticisms of other foods might have been right on target after all Huh ?
Just to make things clear I did use it for many years. Decided it was time for a change so am using other foods currently but would not hesitate to go back to Wysong in the future. Just happen to believe there is no "one complete food" and believe in change periodically.
The fact that other companies criticize competitors and lie about the quality of their own foods does  that not bother you? Well my dogs are happy, very healthy and long lived with LOW vet bills but then I don't allow over vaccination either!  Have a good week and watch out for the botulism this week.

40  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Re: God punish China!!! on: July 23, 2007, 07:45:31 AM
Perhaps a good hard look at our own  Roll Eyes government would be more constructive than "punishing" the Chinese. How are all the Chinese products ending up on our shelves  Roll Eyes? They are not sneaking in during the middle of the night and "fooling" us.  Maybe we should do our best to avoid all this cheap junk from overseas. Buy one good USA made item instead of ten pieces of junk.  ???Duh!
41  Human Food Recalls & Other Issues / General Discusson & Concerns about Human Foods / Re: China banning "tainted" US food on: July 11, 2007, 11:15:38 AM
Well China has executed their equivalent of our FDA head. This was done for taking bribes and allowing dangerous and deadly products to enter the marketplace. " Hmmmmmmm...."
42  Dry and Wet Foods / Kumpi / Re: Ingredients of Kumpi - questions on: June 24, 2007, 04:09:53 PM
Hi Robert,
I think those who have had so many "concerns" and "questions" have always been well aware that Evy answers ALL emails and phone calls promptly. Her site is very informative as well. This is one dog food I have not even a second of concern about.  I would not worry about people who won't do the obvious and contact her personally as perhaps finding a safe, high quality pet food is not their  main priority.

43  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Re: NOW what are you feeding? on: June 15, 2007, 04:17:17 PM
Hi Lacy,
I put my dogs on Kumpi way back in the beginning of the recall and still feed it. They really like it, I like the ingredients and I feel it is very safe.  Smiley I also use Honest Kitchen as a topper several times a week and still give egg, veggies, extra meat every few days as I always did before the scare. I no longer use any canned food nor have I since this mess  began. I am thinking of adding Wysong Archetype to the mix from time to time as I have always believed Dr Wysong is correct when he states there is no one complete food and I never stuck with just the one kibble when I fed Wysong. I buy no biscuits any more and make my own peanut butter doggie biscuits. The only  other treats are Red Barn bully sticks and their filled rawhides. My dogs are doing great.  Kiss
I  too have noticed fewer posts and suspect people are beginning to relax a little and have found diets they trust. Now time to worry about the people foods!  Shocked

44  Dogs / General Dog Health Discussion / Re: My dog threw up on: June 04, 2007, 07:03:58 PM
Don't worry as dogs do throw up from time to time and you will never know why. Eating grass may help them to do it. It is a dog thing. One of mine did the same thing the other night. No reason I could see but I did not give her any food till morning and she is fine. However, if it happens several times or it happens often then I would see a vet. There are a few health problems other than food or grass that can cause nausea. Just feed light for a couple of days.
45  Dry and Wet Foods / Wysong / Re: Wysong on: June 04, 2007, 07:02:17 AM
Jenny I am not offended by your bashing of Wysong as that company hardly needs me or my help. As I said, I wish at this point I had stock in it as I believe the quality pet foods will begin to be discovered by the average consumer after this terrible pet food fiasco. In the past when people would ask what I fed and I said Wysong they would look at me with a "what's that?" and never buy it as it was not in the grocery store or at PetSmart. Now some of the fancier boutiques in my area are carrying it and some other super choices too. I found The Honest Kitchen products at dog shows this past weekend. Yeah! I was simply curious as to your educational qualifications to be making such adamant statements on various pet foods/companies.  Thanks for the answer. Have a great week.  Grin

Sylvia added: I finally had the time to visit your recommended site www.catinfo.org.
I was surprised to see that vet Lisa A. Pierson DVM, whom you recommend, has Wysong products on her list of recommended cat foods. Now  I am confused Huh Huh Huh
