1  Dry and Wet Foods / General Discussion about Dry and Wet Packaged Foods / any long term Dr. Harvey feeders? on: April 15, 2009, 07:44:58 AM
I have just started feeding Dr. Harveys Canine Health to our 13 yr. old collie as she would not eat the Wellness Sr. canned anymore. She loves Dr. Harveys and seems to be doing well on it so far.

Is there anyone with longer experience than myself with this product? It certainly is easier than homecooking (which I did for her evening meal, Wellness in am and homecooked pm). I will probably switch all 3 of our dogs to this.

I am wondering how this compares to Honest Kitchen.

Any feedback would be great, thank you.
2  Dry and Wet Foods / Specific Brands of Dry or Wet Foods / How do you start a new thread? Dr. Harveys on: April 09, 2009, 06:09:48 AM
I am wondering how you start a new thread. I would like to start one or have one started on Dr. Harveys and hear from people who used/still use it.
Thank you.
3  Dry and Wet Foods / Wellness & Old Mother Hubbard / Did Wellness change formula of canned? on: April 08, 2009, 10:38:12 PM
My 13 yr. old collie has been doing very well on Wellness Sr. can in am and homecooked in the pm. About a month ago she developed loose mucousy stool. Vet thought it might be a colitis issue. Last night I noticed the Sr. canned formula said the fat content was 3%. I was almost certain it was 1.5% as that is why I chose it because she is sensitive to fat. I emailed Wellness and they did email me back stating that they have no formula with 1.5% fat content. That was not my question. They avoided the question which was did they change the formula.

In addition I had noticed that the fat in the can seemed a different color and consistency in that it was more white and oddly did not melt in the sink with hot water. I realize I have become ultra observant (some may say paranoid) since the recall of 2007, but is there anything we can count on?Huh Wellness is not cheap and while looking around on this tonite see they have been bought out. Super.

And thirdly our dog was not wanting to eat the Wellness in the morning for awhile. When we finished a case and opened a new one I noticed that it looked different and she practically inhaled it. This is smelling of quality control issues to me.

Anyone else have any experiences like this with Wellness Sr. canned? Or any other Wellness products? I also feed Wellness canned to our cats.
4  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Bad food STILL out there on: February 10, 2008, 07:17:38 PM
At a local vets office (New York) a woman had to have her dog put down this past week, Feb.6, '08, and they are suspecting the food, from WalMart. Not sure which one. I also spoke with a different woman there last month - Jan. '08 -  whose cat was being treated and she had already lost the other one. She fed Special Kitty.

SO folks it seems it isn't over yet. I have been searching for any updates on FDA and other sites and so far haven't seen any. Be careful.
