Thanks for the information. I think Mason is fine. E

I just read this on Itchmo:

if you’re still here - here is the answer I got from Canidae re: the white specks, which are also in the Felidae Cat and Kitten Formula that we use.
“They are simply part of the ingredients in the food and are called fines, caused by friction and settling of the product.”

I have observed this in all of the bags I have gotten. My Mason has been on this food for over a year. I did not really know what it is and was somewhat concerned about it reading the above posts.

My Mason likes the food and he's picky. His coat seems to be very nice and due to the recall of the wet foods I had him tested as a precaution. I had been feeding him both the Max Cat Gourmet Classics and Felidae Dry.

The vet assured me that he was a okay and that his kidney and blood tests were good/normal.

I am a new cat owner. My kitty is Mason and he'll be two years old sometime this June. I got him in July 2006. This may be a dumb question but how can you tell if dry kibble has gone bad?

I have been feeding him Felidae Dry for a year or so. Also, how much licking/grooming is a sign of an allergy. On another thread one owner reported that his or her cat developed an allergy from this food.

Mason seems to groom himself quite often but he also plays alot, sleeps well and just observes the dog and me...hehe...and seems to be a well adjusted mischevious kitty. His coat appears to look good to me but I am not a long time cat mom.

Yep. I called their offices in Monrovia, CA and they said yes. What a shame!

I was hoping to go back to using this food as it was not too expensive and my picky kitty likes it. He's a hard one to feed in terms of wet food.

I was just in my local store and it was just restocked with cat foods. I asked a few of the employees if they were still using Menu Foods and they did not know what I was talking about.

I also just e-mailed TJs through their website. I will post a reply once I receive it.
