It certainly is odd about the PO box.  I don't understand it.

Good to know there really is a corporate office  Smiley

Thanks for checking it out.

I have to measure out Andy's food because otherwise he'll be a chunk.  He gets 1/2 cup dry (but very seldom eats it all everyday) and 1/8-1/4 can of Wellness canned.  He definately eats less in the warmer weather and it's pretty darn hot right now even though we have a/c.

I've toyed with the idea of mixing Core and Complete.  I still might do that on down the line.

Yes, I thought the PO Box was odd too.   I noticed it when I was doing the BBB complaint and needed a mailing address.  By the way, Natura has until 8/21 to reply to my complaint.  I can't wait to see what happens.  I asked them to come clean about the change in the product (black chunks") and to at least make a statement about their change in quality, lack of customer support and acknowledge there is/was a problem and how they are addressing it.

I just started Andy on Wellness Complete Health, but he's having loose stools from it after having been on California Natural for years.  I'm transitioning slowly so we'll see what happens.  I'm hoping his gut will settle down after a few days, but I had this issue some time ago when I tried to put him on it before I found out about CN.

I for one am so disappointed in Natura.  I've used California Natural Dry food for probably at least 10 years w/o any type of problem.  It's so sad that a company can't even step up the plate and let their customers know what's happening.  If they had a bad run, then own up to it.

I've waivered back and forth, should I change foods, should I not.  But because of their silence I have no choice.  I found black chunks in Andy's cat food when I got back from vacation and knew I couldn't just ignore it w/o any word from the company.  There's no guarantee the food I've chosen to feed will be any better or work for Andy, but at least for now there's no controversy.

I've contacted my state senator, tried unsuccessfully to reach the head of the FDA in Chicago (she won't return my calls), posted my pictures for all to see, and made a complaint through the Better Business Bureau in CA against Natura.  I know what I alone do probably won't matter, but at least I would have tried.

Yes, I planned to keep some of it and I'll try to do pics, but probably won't have time today.  I'll do my best.  Have to get to work.

I just wanted to let you know that yesterday I bought another bag of CN Chicken and Brown Rice dry to see if a different pull date would still reveal the "black chunks".

The new bag is pull date 07/08/08 and it has "black chunks" and WHITE chunks now.  It's going back to the store today and Andy is slowly getting switched to Wellness Deboned Chicken and Rice.

I also emailed Senator Dick Durbin and will call the FDA today to report my findings.

I spoke with my vet yesterday and she suggested I contact the FDA myself and Senator Dick Durbin (I live in IL) as he has put forth a bill about pet food safety and tell them what I've found in the food and the how the company is not really very forthcoming...by the way, I never received the information from Natura to mail my food for testing.  What a surprise!

She told me not to panic, but get the Wellness and switch him over slowly over a week or so, keep the suspect food and possibly buy another bag to see if it looks the same as what I have.

Eternaljester,

I called the company and requested the types of samples I wanted and they were happy to take my request.  I requested the deboned chicken and Core types to try.

I checked my pet food store for samples of Wellness today and they were out so I called the company and they are sending them out this week.

I used Wellness Super 5 mix, which was a long time ago, so maybe now the formula will be different.  The only thing I can do is try it out and see how he does on it.

Davis,

I have no choice but to go back to Wellness dry.  I've used it in the past and it caused loose stools, but there really aren't many "good" choices left.  I have to wait until Friday because my local pet food place is out of it.  They can't keep it on the shelves.  I also spoke to customer service at OMH and they will send me samples as well, but it will take a few days for them to arrive.

Has anyone bought any bags with later expiration dates?  I saw today the ones on the shelves are 7/08 exp dates.

Thanks Jenny, I saw it there!

I'm so worried because Andy does not do well on Wellness (loose stools), but I don't feel there are many other good choices left.
