1  Dry and Wet Foods / Kumpi / Re: Ingredients of Kumpi on: May 16, 2007, 10:35:27 PM
Sarah,

There are so many blogs and posts out there right now it's hard to keep up with them all.

I posted on a blog on Itchmo, then went to another only to find out later that people were saying on another blog "WHERE ARE YOU"!!  Not that I am popular but I was having some foods tested and they wanted to know the results.  I would gather that Evy doesn't have the time to look at all posts everywhere.  Although, it appears she is trying.  Smiley  I commend her for that!  I don't see any other companies (especially the President, not even our own) answering any of our concerns.

I have been beside myself through all of this recall as you have.  My dogs and cats are my kids.

All I can tell you about Kumpi is this.  I had the first bag (4 lbs) of Kumpi tested for the toxins in question.  It was negative.  I then ordered a 20 lb bag and had it tested.  It was negative.  I will have the next 20 lb bag I buy tested as well.  This is what I personally have to do to feel comfortable with what I am feeding my kids right now.

I have noticed that my kitty (Nancy) who always threw up 2 or 3 times a week for 5 years has not thrown up since eating KumpiKat.  My puppy Cori has had less allergy issues (eyes & reversed sneezing) and has more energy since being on Kumpi Senior.   I'm very pleased with Kumpi and appreciate the President of the company taking the time she did to address my concerns.  My Cori is like a pup again.  Grin

Please understand I must say that this is my opinion only and the results of feeding this food have positive in my kids.  Please do your own research and testing if it will make you feel better and make the right choice in the food you choose.

I'm happy with Kumpi and so are my kiddos.

Does anyone know anything at all about Muenster Foods?

They have kits available for Salmonella and E.coli, drugs and pregnancy.  These kits are simply screens.  That's all!  They are not an actual TEST.
Drug kits have a level they must reach before the screen appears positive.  A watered down sample may show negative when it may not be.  What level of detection will these Melamine screens be set at before they show the substance is there?
Per FDA - Melamine at low levels should not be a threat to humans or pets.  Will they set the detection kit levels at what the FDA thinks it's low enough to pass?
Why isn't it that they have not had the food tested by a laboratory?  In my opinion: A simple screening test isn't good enough for me to feel comfortable.

Hope all you and your pets stay safe.

I was just informed about the post on the Canidae and felt the need to post here as well.

The results on the bags/products that I submitted in for testing of Kumpi, KumpiKat, Canidae Dry, Felidae Dry are as follows:

Melamine Non-Detected / Aminopterin Non-Detected :-)

My biggest concern is the Melamine and they were not detected in any of the products I submitted.

Please understand I can not in anyway say that because of the tests I had done, everything is safe & free of toxins due to the different batches produced.I know what I have is safe.

If Annette can get more info on what was tested it would greatly be appreciated.  Did they test the Canidae or did they test the urine on the pups?  Were the pups fed anything else?  Treats or Chicken?

When did this happen?  Any amount of Melamine is too much.  It should not be there period.  Even a low level is too much.

I found this info regarding Merrick and a recall they had not long ago.
