Hello Davis... I am using the "terms" set forth by the labs. Public = people sending in samples. Companies (vets, manufactureers & suppliers ) = (non public) sending in samples. I didnt make the rules they did? Wow do senior members like to attack newbies? Can anyone else read between the lines? I guess you are not interested in new people joining? So sad......I am sorry and won't bother you anymore....
Welcome to the club. I'm a newb too! (I've never been "attacked" and thanks for stirring the pot! That's what makes this forum fun and educational by shedding different light on this recall issue. I appreciate your fire!

Sorry willy, had to leave a while. You know people. The sick twisted ones will do any thing in the name of the limelight. I beleive thats why the big labs wont take samples from the public? I've spent countless hours on the phone trying to get info out of them. E.F. Labs, S.Labs, W&T Labs, G.S. Labs. I have also found some too with open arms and Iam still investigating their motives, and making sure they use the correct method. I would really hate to pay for a test that invalid?
Wow, I sure have missed a lot. So from what I interpret these past testing are invalid? What is the "truth" and yes, there are a lot of "sick" people. I never thought about sample tampering. I can imagine unscrupulous people looking for a quick buck trying to get lawsuit monies from there babies "killed" from tainted pet food. Truth, people are sick! So it seems most labs WON'T take samples from us? That makes sense but I have soo many more questions. Truth, can you be more helpful. Why are other labs more open to take everyones samples? Money? With the change in testing are these labs using the new procedure? HELP!

Dry and Wet Foods / Canidae / Re: Pied Piper and Canidae Dry

Mary, you are most welcome. By sharing our compiled info, we will get through this nightmare.
I already have enough people who think I've "lost it" by being consumed reading the blogs, forums, etc. I could give a rat's patootie.
If our sharing of information helps save even one pet's life, it will all have been so worth it.
Thanks for the info. There does seem to be a lot of good and bad info on the net but its OUR job to uncover what's real and what's not. I rely on my local pet store, they seem to be pretty up to date on the latest recall info (and Lord knows they'd be the first to know it something EVER happened to my babies!) Im sure there are some contractual agreements btw Pied Piper and whomever (IE. the correction on Canine Caviar dry food). My babies are doing fine on Canidae, and I'll stick to it until the facts tell me different. Again Ally, thanks for the info.

If you can't guess, I have labs. I like to think I know a little about pet nutrition. But who really knows these days. I was turned onto Canidae by my local pet store. It came highly recommended. Before that I fed, in no particular order; Matrix, California Natural, Innova, Solid gold and A.P.D L&R. IMHO all decent foods. My favorite was Matrix, I can't seem to find it any more.

FranciscoLab....
As for over-done.....I don't know about that! It's coverage by the Media..has been so "under-done"....that many people need a forum on which to speak and reveal their experiences to others who will hopefully listen with an open mind and heart. So true! The media will run with any story if it gets them ratings and fear sells! Take for instance the whole Taco Bell/Spinach/e coli scare. I still eat spinach and still eat at Taco Bell. I know TB is C@#P food but it is my guily pleasure! I've seen many "positive" comments on certain brands....that is what this forum is also all about! But....it is only logical....that for the "good guys" to stand out.....the "bad" (whomever they be) will be revealed .....and thanks to blogs and forums......it will eventually. But until then...there will be people that become increasingly curious about those companies that remain silent still........to wonder why! So true! Eventually we'll have to trust someone. And hopefully this fiasco will produce a better industry. I love my pets more than some of my own family members! The only thing that I see truly over-done.....is the length of time it's taking for all the poisonous petfood brands to trickle out......info that could have been saving pets lives a while back...... I doubt the pet food companies are trying to poison our pets, but this recall has me interested in what goes into my pets bellies. It seems like China = bad, USA = good. Well sort of? As for saving lives earlier, I think I must just have been lucky.

Whatever happens in the future, the only thing those pets will know and remember is the love you gave them!!
So true! Hopefully, these and other issues will be solved. I like what you said because in the end, the memories and love we gave is what really matters. I still remember my first dog. I must have been 6 or 7 when my mom brought her home. She lived to be 18 years old!

Dry and Wet Foods / Canidae / Re: Pied Piper and Canidae Dry

Does anyone here know exactly what is going on between Canidae and Pied Piper? Apparently they are now refusing to claim the other makes/is made by one another. Pied Piper recently asked to have their name removed from the list as being Canidae's manufacturer. There is quite a stew going on about it over on Itchmo right now. I was sure someone here would already have the scoop. Thanks, Mary I pulled this from The Pet Food List this morning: "Editor's Note 5/04/07: The dry food plant (Pied Piper) asked to be removed from this list due to the fact that people misinterpreted the statement about the Canine Caviar recall. They later asked for us to add a clarification: Pied Piper only manufactures Canine Caviar's DRY foods, none of which have been recalled. NO Pied Piper products have been recalled as of 5/04/07. Pied Piper states, "The dry plants relationships are very unique and different to each customer, and very difficult to just list their names. All ingredients are uniquely customized to our customer owned formulas."
Canine Caviar has recalled 3 cans of wet food, which is NOT manufactured by Pied Piper. Please see the Canine Caviar website for information on the cans that have been recalled."Its Canine Caviar, not Canidae. It seems like Pied Piper is one of the good ones. I've never heard of the food, where is it sold?

WHAT CAN FOOD IS SAFE FOR MY LITTLE DOGGIE NAMED KITTY WEIGHING IN AT 5 POUNDS?
Yes, there are many foods out there still off the list. I recommend doing your homework and asking your friends, family, forum goers and visit you local pet store. MY local shop is very up to date with this recall. IMHO, I wouldn't go raw unless you know exactlly what you are doing! I tried it years ago and I got tried of cleaning my floors, if you know what I mean!

Thanks Mary,
BTW, 'Truth' said in another post she's been feeding her 'girls' Candidae...so she's got dogs, and obviously thinks that that food is defensible to 'something.'
As concerned parents we want only the best for our babies. I was turned on to this site/forum due to the recent recalls. I guess I always assumed Pet Food companies made their own foods. At first, I was amazed but it really does make sense and even in the grocery stores there are a lot of "private label" foods. It does seem like there is a lot of companies that fiddle around with less quality ingredients. In my research, I noticed most of these recalled companies did break up their grains in the ingredient list. Like the rice; rice gluten, rice hulls ( Hulls for g-sake) and etc AND I never trust any food with wheat or corn! I've been feeding Canidae for years and have never had a problem. All my babies are fed Canidae from puppies to seniors. Its a easy food to feed, less hassle less waste (Both in time and ****)! Reading a lot of the various post it does seem like we're in a frendzy and maybe it is a little overdone. I hate to admit it but the funny thing about this is I care more about my pets nutrition than my own. With that said I have a lot of research to do! Boy do I have much work!
