Therese I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have been out for about 2 weeks now and am just now trying to catch up on the posts. I am sorry you lost your little Abby! I know the pain of loosing a pet, I like all of us here, I consider my pets as family members too, I don't have human children so my fur babies are my children. I know that no words can quite console you I wish that our little babies could live longer, I would give my own life for my dogs... I know that little Abby is watching down upon you right beside your Mom's side!

Therese, I am sorry if I am missunderstanding, but did you say that there was Melamine in the food too as in Melamine in Natura food? I didn't see that....!!! Where does it say that, is it in the lab report?
Also, just to add to the comment that the food co. are thinking most folks think the recall is over... I agree, you know if you look at most of the pet food co. websites, you have a hard time finding recall information anymore, most took it off of their sites...

I was feeding Innova Dry Adult from the 33# bag just like the article... I noticed some symptoms in my dogs... such as excessive drinking, and urinating. I switched foods... I think they got better but now I am worried there could have been permanent damage done... I hadn't checked up on the site all weekend... now I am VERY nervous!!!!!!!!

Sharron, I share your concerns.
Thank you guys for posting, I am glad to read that I am not the only one out there thinking about the same thing. The poster on Itchmo didn't test for acetaminophen . I also called Natura on early this week, I spoke to a representative that has also answered some of my emails. She said that the FDA gave a statement that acetaminophen was not found in any foods and is not in pet food. She said they will not test for it because of that statement. I don't think that there is anything wrong with Natua food, its just that I want to trust a food company 100% that they are doing everything they can to keep their foods safe... I don't know if there ever will be a food we can trust 100% anymore... sad but true. I thought they were "on the ball" with testing when everything was going on and I bet it is the reason a lot of people switched to Natura foods... I just wish they would go the extra mile for their customers...

I don't and will never use NB. You know what is the scarry part... I was about to switch to NB right before they recalled. I just thank God that I didn't. I don't know what I would have done... I feel such sympathy for those who lost their family members, I can't immagine.

Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Re: NOW what are you feeding?

Hi Lacy! I have also noticed there are very few posts as of late... I am still feeding Innova to my dogs, got another bag with a different lot number than the one I thought (IMO) was suspect. They had been drinking a ton of water about 1 week into that particular bag. Anyway, it seems things have gotten better with this new bag. I am still sending the sample in for testing though. Just in case. I am still worried about the whole laboratory procedure thing with the Midwest Laboratories. I am sure it is nothing to worry about it but I still do. I am thinking about switching... I wrote to the company and asked if they would consider testing at Expertox with more advanced testing. I still have not gotten a response. I know one person makes no diffance, but maybe if more people write and ask the same thing it will be considered. I know a lot of people here feed Natura.... I don't know just a thought. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Cats / General Cat Health Discussion / Re: Lump on my cats side

I don't have a kitty but I do have a dog with some lumps and bumps. He has some sebaceous cysts that are on the skin and just recently, I found another different type of bump. This one was like you said squishy. It moved under the skin. I can get my fingers under it and move it around. It feels like chicken fat. I took him to the vet and he said to monitor it for growth, but he thinks its just a lipoma, a fatty tumor. He said it grows at a very slow rate and are usually benign. It doesn't hurt him or bother him, it seems.

I agree! Of course that is all information given to me by one rep. So who knows... (Sharron I believe was her name, but don't quote me on that) I also get a very quick response everytime I call... that is why I would rather call them.
I think that they do use Midwest labs to test for the melamine and cyanuric acid, I am not sure how often, or if they test at the midwest location for every batch though. She said they use it to back-up their own lab test results which are done in their facility. She said that they test each batch in their in-house facility.

Maybe it would help if we all send emails or call them to voice our concern about the lab methods used, they have been very good about keeping on top of the recall stuff and keeping the public informed... Although I don't ever get a quick response through email... in fact I think I have only gotten 2 responses of the many that I have sent them...
Who knows maybe they consider using the other method you mentioned (LC/MS/MS)

That makes me very very nervous that Midwest labs wont catch the toxins unless it is an extensive amount.
And why does Natura need a backup for testing?
Yes, me too!! I am not sure about the backup thing, maybe they tested once or periodically to make sure they are safe?? Also, I don't think that their in house lab is as equipped as a "laboratory business" would be... would you think so? I don't know.

Dry and Wet Foods / Innova / Re: Testing for Acetomenaphine

Well, I don't have any new news about the acetomenaphhine, but I was just nervous about the lab reports on the Large Breed Iams Dog food in Itchmo. They said that they had the food tested at several labs and that Midwest Labs (where they test Natura products) test results came back negative but that Expertox test results came back positive. I called Natura again today to ask if all batches were tested at Midwest Labs and they said that they do their own testing in their facility and use Midwest Labs as a back up. She said that all of their tests have come back negative. She wasn't sure if all of the batches tested, or how often they test at Midwest Labs. She said that they believe that the ammeloride ammelorine, aminopterin, acetomenaphine would be negative if there is no evidence of cyanuric acid. (Im not sure if that is correct info or not) Anyway, the reason I am getting nervous is because my dog started drinking a lot of water recently and then going to urinate in a hurry. I had just had them tested at the vet about 2 weeks ago or so. This particular dog doesn't drink water too often so I usually have to give her a cup of water in her dry food. Then, another one of my dogs starts drinking a lot of water too... I explained this to the rep. I spoke to and she said she is going to send me information on how to send them a sample for testing. She asked me for the lot numbers and everything. I only have about 2 cups left... I do have another bag I bought on Friday. Its from another batch. I started feeding the new one since Friday, and it seems as if one of my dogs is drinking a little less water... the one that doesn't usually drink much. She also seems to be urinating less... the other one is still drinking a whole lot. I give them purified water and feed them Innova adult dry. Occasionally I will give them organic veggies and meat. I just haven't given them any for about a week...
