Truth....

You must understand....that us "seniors" have read so much since the first recalls....that it is custom to now question things. Maybe it's because the FDA, PFI and all others have been so shady .....that it only becomes second nature to want to question EVERYTHING.

Attacking "newbies" is not the agenda here...really...finding out the truth and sharing the latest is what we do....

What should be important to you as a dog lover is that you are doing the best for your dogs...if you have news to share...share it...but try not to be alarmed when something you say may seem suspect......I'm sure it's happened to all of us.

You just have to remember whats been going on and people are not going to be as trusting as you may like....I certainly don't trust everything at first....it's just not my nature......but  I try and understand why peolple say what they say...and leave it at that. Believe me...there's alot of folks that have taken a lot of slack here...but they understand the mentality of this situation.......am I making any sense?....

I have asked "truth" for a link...or whatever...as I'd like to see some back up evidence on these tests.....It just doesn't make sense why people would pay foe a sample that they allready know the out-come of.

I do believe that many people would find this news intimdating and would not be encouraging for those who would actually like their food tested....

I'm so sorry to hear about your CRF.....and you make such an important point! One of the things that made my blood boil (and still does every time I hear them say this!).....is their on-going declarations that the human food is safe.....that there is no need to recall!!!

I have always thought...."how the hell can they say that?"....and what came to mind was people such as yourself and your condition....or elderly or small children etc.....how can they possibly give this food, which we pay for, which I don't care how much they say that the poison is "diluted"....an A-OK? It's just ludicrous!!!!

Your nephrologist sounds very wise....I hope every thing turns out ok for you.

I'm very concerned about what I too put on the table for my family.....it's just a huge horror story!! I'm at a loss for words sometimes (which used to be rare!)....
All I know is this.....it's criminal! That sums it up for me.....and they have to be held (everyone involved in this tragedy) accountable.....

I know the show...in fact my Vet was on there in January!

I've contacted City TV/City pulse many times...usually get back a generic reply that they "were glad to hear from me and value any comments etc......."

When I last spoke with the lady who was making seat reservations about this very thing.....I asked her if they could inform the TV stations to display it on their up-coming events calender.....she said that someone from the Petfoodcampaign would be taking care of that.......I thought that it would be great to have Ann Rohmer on there....as well as some of the vets who are regular guests on her show.......I guess we'll have to wait and see what the organizers will do with that idea!

Did any of these labs tell you what people were doing to the samples?....Or did they tell you why the price has gone up so much?.....Seems to me like the labs are trying to benefit (monetarily that is) in this situation and take advantage of people that are upset and want to know what killed their pets.

Well, maybe they aren't.....but you would think that in the interest of science (or whatever)....they would make the testing a little more affordable for those who have allready been tapped out with vet bills!

The ones with open arms....have you found out anything regarding possible motives...and how did they compare in price...to the others?....I'm so curious about this stuff. I'm so lucky that my dogs are healthy.....I can't even imagine how others struggling through this are feeling....

And even though I now home-cook and feed raw ( about half and half)....as each day unfolds...I still worry about the food I'm feeding them....as well as my family! It's a good thing I have lots of hair...or I swear I'd be bald by now!

I have friends who've been helping me out here and there....but I get so upset when some say that I'm "obsessed" at times!!!

When I try and give advice to some about the latest recalls....some think that everything is OK now...and I shouldn't worry so much and that everything is safe now!.....UGH!!!!!!

I think the most important things that we can organize (or get young people to help us organize... ..)....are rallies and events that inform those...that think things are OK...

People NEED to REALLY know where things stand......when more people are informed the louder our cause will be heard....and maybe, just maybe demands for better regulations will start.

But you're so right....we can't stop fighting...it's so good talking to folks like yourself who truly understand that the consequences for complacency will be enormous!.....Thank God for this forum!!!!.....and for our young folks! You'll have to keep me up-to-date with your daughter's plans!.....

Both groups would be great.....it is afterall. when you think about it, an environmental issue as well!!

To tell you the truth...I read some articles on China's food safety (or lack thereof) and it's so scary! I forget iif it was yesterday or the day before....but I was feeling really pessimistic and down......this thing has just gotten so huge. For me it's become so scary and over-whelming!

When I read things like the ideas from your daughter...and I think about my son...I think to myself, that these are the minds that are going to have to straighten out this warped world.....I feel better.

I feel better cuz young people today are so intelligent...and we need them to participate......I just feel better when I see young people participating, that's all!

What are people doing to samples before they send them in?......and people are sabotaging their own samples that they have to pay for?....Doesn't make sense....but lately, not too much is making sense anyways!

Do you think that perhaps the price has gone up because they have to check for substances other than melamine?.....if you have a link to the info that you read...I'd love to read more about it.

I remember that Teric was getting several brands tested if I remember correctly.......it's really a huge expense on top of what people are allready shelling out!...I feel so bad for what this is doing to people.....especially when you think about those that have lost their pet/pets....

The only place that I'd heard of around here is Guelph....but recently I read that they were really busy and were not doing testing. Have you phoned Guelph and asked them if there is anywhere around here that COULD do testing for you? Just an idea....I hope you find somewhere.....I'll keep my eyes open for you...just in case OK?

There are 3 really decent sized Universities!........The largest one (and it IS large!) is U of T. (Univ of Toronto)....

Also there is Ryerson and also York Universities!.....and oodles of Colleges in addition to the Universities!

Just outside of Toronto is Guelph University.....for those studying to be Vets!!!

Lot's of young folks around that's for sure!!!!!!

I guess what I was wondering from you is.....do you know how much it costs (approx.) to get independant testing done? I assume that it depends on the testing....but I am just curious to know how much people have to pay......on top of their vet bills.....their wallets must be really getting hit!.....so sad!.....

I have an 18yr old son.....him and his friends are on the internet ALL the time!!!! He has actually been very helpful to me when going to the Universities and passing out flyers and things.....He will actually be with me at the Forum on the 18th!!!

Your daughter has some great ideas that I (as an older broad!) wouldn't even think of!!!....Give her a "high five" for me!!!.....

Maybe someone....for instance a Celebrity (who loves animal rights causes!...hey! any publicity is good publicity right?).....would take part as well as help fund the ad!!!

There certainly isn't a shortage of Celebrities who are animal lovers!.....Maybe someone here has some kinda' connection with someone....hey! It's a small world right?.....
