Hi Mary!!!!

Just got in the door about 10 minutes ago.......it was great!!!!!

Met Kathleen and Mel T.......and of course Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins!!!!...We even had our pictures all taken together!!

Turned my petition forms with all the signatures in to the MPs....I still have lots more empty forms to get filled (I printed out LOTS!)....I'll mail them to Parliament!

There was talk about a 2nd forum.....they'll let us know by e-mail!

It was both informative and emotional!...Can't wait for the next one!......We really needed to get things rolling here in Canada...and from the collective feelings that were displayed of frustratration, anger, sorrow and general wanting of answers...I foresee action, motivation, and further demands from the PFI just for starters.........from the great group of people I met there tonight!

Over all......I wouldn't have missed it for the world!...It was so excellent to be in a room filled with people that actually know what's going on! Because I've been encountering so many people lately who do not realize the severity of this problem.....this was, to say the least.....empowering!!!!......

Well....so much for my "Sweet tooth!"

A couple of years ago...I don't think that I would have considered the raw diet....part ignorance/part fear?

Anyways, thanks to so many websites and endless reading of other's experiences...I wouldn't have it any other way!....My Shelties have NEVER looked better or had as much energy!

I don't show my Shelties...I just love the breed! But they were starting to get..well, what I thought was lazy...didn't seem to want to play as much. Now these 2 play non-stop...outside AND inside!

When I first started the home-cooking.....the vomitting stopped, the eyes were more "alert".......but it was when I started to introduce the raw meaty bones that I really started to see the energy level go back to the way they were when they were pups! It's like their way of telling me that they are feeling so much better and that they are enjoying their life more!

I'm no professional nutritionalist or anything....but I know my dogs.....and it's the best thing that I have ever done for them! I can't tell you how good that feels! It may not be the diet of choice for everyone....and I'm not trying to push it on anyone....I'm just telling the results of MY experiences. If it helps someone else in their decision that's great!

I've actually been reading about Senator Durbin's efforts from very early on!......I have been reading all the live-blogging on Pet Connection of all the meetings and hearings....I applaud him! Big time!!!

I absolutely cannot wait to see Dr. Hodgkins on the 18th!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

My son was telling me yesterday.....that an internet friend over in England lost their cat that morning because of eating tainted petfood!

My son of course asked her what she was feeding her cat......and the answer given to him was Royal Canin....not sure if it was wet or dry.

My son will be coming with me to the Forum on the 18th in Toronto......although he has been a great help to me....for some reason, this news about his friends cat, was a revelation.

I think he realizes...what his Mom has been so "obsessed" about the last month or so.......I think the 18th is going to be a real "eyeopener" for him!.....

Btw.....I just learned that you had eye-surgery! I knew that your eye was bothering you...I just didn't realize about the surgery you allready had.

I just went over to see what was going on over at the Itchmo Forum......and lo and behold....the troll was there!

So...being the big mouth that I am (or can be.... ..)..I, well, I had to respond! Just had to put in my 2 cents...so to speak!

It was the first time I ever posted there....(at least I think it was the first time)...

Maybe the W.H.O.....should be brought into considerations regarding the boycotting of the Olympics....after-all..it should be viewed upon as a HEALTH issue to foreigners!.....I know, sometimes I reach a bit high...but for God's sakes...that Government has to be held accountable to SOMEBODY!!!!..... .....

Don't they?.....I really don't know enough about politics.....but somebody has to have SOME leverage over the crimes of humanity that exist there! Like say, someone who isn't in debt to them for instance?...

I've mentioned it earlier elsewheres........but, there should also be a Boycott against the Olympics being held in China too!!! If it's not even safe for their own citizens to eat the food there let alone breathe their putrid air....how in the hell do they get the "privilege" of hosting the Olympics in Beijing? There's so many other countries that have readible facilities from being past hosts of the Olympics!

I'd participate in that protest!....I'm between jobs, so I have LOTS of time to spare!!! Bet that would get A LOT of attention! We could arrange Marches ALL over.......including here in Canada!!!!!...

Anyways..my blood was boiling.....I had to get away from the computer B4 I went on a rant!!!

It's so disgusting to what lengths these jerks will go to...to get pet-parents, who are allready hurting...to feel guilty about what they fed! Cheap or high-end...there's not supposed to be poison in ANY of their foods! It's like saying people who eat Kraft Dinner instead of Linguine Carbonera....deserve to get sick!!!

So much for NOT going on a rant!!...Sorry!!!......

Well the Forum that I'm going to on the 18th is actually being hosted by a Member of Parliament....plus another Member of Parliament (who is really pushing for Petffod regulations) is going to be there too!......Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins is going to be a guest speaker there.

They will make their presentations and then there's going to be a Q & A period after that! I believe my dog's Vet is going to attend it too! I can't wait!!!!

So, once I go to this meeting...I'll get a better idea of just where Canada stands in all this. I haven't seen any politicians here speaking publicly about it yet....and I'm really hoping that will change.....and even though I've contacted Media...both broadcast and print......the coverage up til a couple of days ago was pretty scant!

Funny you mentioned about your pet's eyes!......I said to my husband a couple weeks into the home-cooked diet ( which I'm slowly introducing raw items into)....that I thought that my dog's eyes seemed more "sparkly!"

My one Sheltie has allready lost some weight (he was getting rather "portly").....
and the rise in their energy is undeniable!!...Their coats have always been beautiful....but for some reason there is a more silky texture...and my little female Sheltie isn't scratching like before.

When I first introduced the raw....Willy (the "once portly" male) had a soft stool but there was no vomitting or anything. Now they are both handling it really well...

Twice a week...I make up a liver slurry (beef liver, veggies, baked egg shells) and they just lap it up! They each get a cup twice a week. Ooops!....I forgot to mention that I also put a can of salmon in the slurry (sockeye) bones and all!!

I only wish that I had been feeding my babies this way right from the get-go!! I sure have learned a lot.....and I keep on learning new things constantly...it's great to see my dogs so happy!!!..

I don't know too awfully much about the politicians and where they stand in the U.S...

I might be reaching a bit with this idea...but maybe some backgroound research could be done on the Presidential Candidates....and see how they feel about this issue....and others like this....

After all, they do want the votes right?.....Maybe they could help in some way?

WOW!!!!.....Inever really paid attention to the # of members there are now!!! I think when I first became a member, there was only around 30 members then!

I didn't want to make us out to be a suspicious bunch (sometimes I word things wrong!)....just wanted to make the point that due to this current situation....we have become ones to question....and for "truth" to realize that just because we question isn't an attack.

Remember all the flack that Evy and Mike got sometimes? But, they realized the gravity of the situation....and understood why people questioned them sometimes.

Anyways....it's getting late...the dogs are looking at me as if to say..."Come on Mom...time for bed!"
