I'm a member of Feline IBD, Peg - though inactive now for some months ... would you want me to ask the group something for Rufus?  I'll post for you.

Here's one of the latest pics of Cato.  Don't you think he looks great?  All my neighbors who've seen him have remarked on the beauty of his coat, eyes and general demeanor.  I feel so proud of him and I attribute his good looks to home made raw and cooked feeding... un-abashedly.  (oh - he still wants kibble late at night but he now prefers Meowmie's raw mixes and home-cooked food  Cheesy Grin)

Sentence:  10 yrs behind bars eating food made with their tainted glutens three times a day! Tongue

ha ha ha ha

but not enough for those who've lost a beloved animal compnion through their gred and duplicity.

Now, because they saved the state a whole load of money by pleading guilty straight off the hat, I suppose they'e going to get a lighter sentence/fine?  Makes me so angry.

I've had so many replies to my post like this one:

Hi Phoebe,

I am praying for Rufus..Believing God for total healing. Please keep us posted.
Blessings,
Liz

Dear Phoebe,

Dear Father in Heaven, the Great Physician who has authority over all physicians, in the Name of Jesus we come before You with this most serious request for Rufus.  We ask that You please heal him right now and restore and strengthen his body.  We ask that You satisfy him with long and healthy and happy life.  Please put a hedge of protection around him and have Your angels watch over him.  Lead and guide all the doctors and all those who help take care of him to do all the right things.  Pour out Your blessings in a miraculous way right now.  The Bible says that You are a present help in the time of trouble and this precious one needs a very immediate and present help right now.  Please sustain him until his parents can acquire anything else that is needed to help this little one. Lord, we give You the praise, the honor and the glory and in the Name of Jesus, we claim his healing by the stripes of Jesus right now. (1 Pet 2:24)  Amen.

Dear Phoebe,
I will definately pray for Rufus and your friend.
Here is a great prayer you can adapt to him since you will be saying it for him. We are all God's creations after all,
Susan

I am happy to pray for your precious Rufus, asking God to send Holy Angels to hold your Rufus close as they minister health and healing.

Please remind Rufus about how God send Jesus here, not only to reconcile us back to Him, but also to conquer sickness, sin, disease and death.  Rufus has been saved from it ALL!

You are in my prayers for God's Wisdom concerning your Rufus.  I *believe* in the power of prayer, I *believe* in God's healing power, and I *believe* in laying hands on the sick and anointing with oil that the prayer of the righteous WILL bring God's healing directly and immediately to save the sick.  I *believe in seeing a full and complete healing, and seeing the power of God in action.... in the Almighty Holy Name of Jesus, before whom EVERY knee shall bow - especially poisoning, all effects, and *anything* that could present itself against the way God created Rufus back before the beginning of time.

Now go get some oil, and rebuke anything which has attacked YOUR cat... a PERFECT GIFT (and HIS creation) from the MOST HIGH GOD to YOU - HIS precious child.
:-)
I'm looking to God to meet you at the point of your faith, to uplift you, and to edify you, as you stand for Rufus.

Remember, if Jesus lives in you, then your hands are His hands, your words are His Words!

I've sent your request on to the Prayers for Pets email list.

Love,
Melanie

I will keep Rufus in my thoughts and daily intentions.  I pray St. Francis will intervene and guide the doctors so that Rufus will recover and be healthy and whole again.  I pray if the food was the source of his illness that the manufacturer will come forward and take their product off the market so no other animals will suffer. I pray Rufus will stay strong and fight so that he will be home with his forever family very soon. Please keep us updated. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best,  debbie

24  Dry and Wet Foods / Natural Balance / Re: Natural Balance Canned - MOLD !! on: May 30, 2009, 12:45:46 PM
I'm so glad I stopped buying NB cans months ago... that Test result tool they have on their web site had me fooled - thought that a compnaty who would make lab tests on their food readily available to the customers should be safe... ell, perhaps they are as "safe" as any commercially made food can be.

There was a study done to see if pentobarbital was indeed in petfood and indeed it was.  And then it was conjectured that the drug residue must come frm euthenized animals - including cats and dogs.  So, several brands of petfood were tested for cat and dog DNA, but none was found (of course).   Tongue  I would really love to see another independent test done on this dog and cat DNA and this time, not on the finnished products, which have been treated under very high heat temperatures (thus denaturing proteins, including DNA) - but on the raw rendered animal meats made into kibble and canned petfood.

See, the animal feed and petfood industry is the perfect answer to "what to we do about all the remains of slaughtered animals that people cannot eat?"  On the one hand, I see the logical economy of the enterprise; but on the other hand, I see the horrors of the actual application: 4-D animals, roadkills, euthenized pet, cancerous tissues of othewise USDA inspected farm animals...  Surely, in this day of high tech and wonders, a system can be found and set in place that can make use of healthy animal tissues that people don't eat (bec of culture - in some cultures, they eat everything) and without the use of so many noxious and toxic chemicals.
26  Cats / Cat Food Recipes / Re: KAFFE's Cafe: A Collection of Kaffe's Favorite Recipes on: May 27, 2009, 09:33:06 PM
Here is a very simple and easy raw recipe for those who want to introduce their kitties to raw food:

First Step to Raw
(Raw Chicken and Squash)

Food Ingredients:

4 pcs      Chicken thighs, boneless, skinless, chopped
1 Jar (2.5 oz)   Beechnut Butternut Squash Babyfood
3/4 cup      Water

Supplements:

¼ Tsp   Eggshell powder
500 mg   Taurine

Preparation:

1.   Combine and blend all ingredients in a blender or food processor to desired consistency.
2.   Divide into ¼ cup portions. Freeze what will not be eaten immediately.

Recipe makes around 8.5 portions of ¼  cup each (2 oz)

Each 1/4 cup (2 oz) portion contains:

Calories:      42 kcal
-   from Protein  66%
-   from Fats  28%
-   from Carb  6%

On DM Basis:
Protein:   6.4 g   74.4%
Fat:   1.2 g   13.95%
Carb:   0.4 g   4.65%
Fiber:   0.2 g   2.32%
Ash:   0.4 g   4.65%
Total:       8.6 g

Protein Load:  6.4 g / 8.6 g x 100% =  74.4%
Phosphorus Load:   56.6 mg / 8600 mg x 100% = 0.65%

hee hee hee

Hi there Perseus!  Been away toooo long, I guess... anyway, this is what I've been dying to post, written by Dr. Wysong (who owns the Wysong brand of petfood):

http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Myth-of-100%-Complete-Processed-Pet-Foods&id=45992

The interesting part of his article is this:

"For the past 25 years I have been a lonely voice in the wilderness trying to get people to understand the deadly health consequences of feeding processed pet foods exclusively. People want convenience in a bag and the industry wants the flow of billions to continue uninterrupted. In the meantime the scientific literature offers compelling proof that millions of animals have been maimed and died as a result of feeding thoroughly tested “100% complete” foods with the full imprimatur of government regulation. (Exactly the same thing that abounds in the FDA-pharmaceutical industry.) Examples of pet food disasters include dilated cardiomyopathy from taurine deficiency, potassium imbalances, fatty acid and carnitine deficiencies and numerous other problems that would be expected on a steady diet of dead, devitalized, carbohydrate-based processed foods. Moreover, the whole panoply of human chronic degenerative diseases such as cancer, obesity, arthritis, autoimmunities, dental deterioration and organ failure are at epidemic levels in the pet population … as should be expected on such a diet."

 Grin
Persues:  Cato is sooooo grounded.  Or so Ithought.  I took pity on him today and took him along with me to the neighbor's for tea and so he can contine acquaintance with her two kitties, Sahara and Twister.  But dont worry - Cato was stuffed into his soft-sided carrier  Cheesy but allowed to roam my neighbor's living room - after every door and every window was locked!   Grin  He had a smashing time hiding under the couch cover  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy  He's such a silly twit!  But I love him so.  Angel Kaffe must have scolded him real good last Sunday!
