16  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Blue Buffalo statement on: April 21, 2007, 10:07:22 AM
Diedtra Henderson, Boston Globe Staff

April 21, 2007 - The Blue Buffalo Co. of Wilton, Conn., stunned to
learn that its pet food contained the tainted rice protein concentrate,
now will demand that, if its American suppliers must use imports, they
will choose trusted countries like Australia , Canada , New Zealand,
and the European Union nations, which have more rigorous standards.

"It's when you get into some of these Asian countries, particularly
China, where the regulation just isn't there," said Bill Bishop , the
company's president. "We can't tolerate that as a pet food supplier.
We're clearly going to bar China."

17  Dry and Wet Foods / Evo / Re: Anybody feed Evo to their cats?? on: April 21, 2007, 06:51:42 AM
Why blame Menu Food?
They did not buy Chinese glutens, ChemNutra of USA did.

Only Nutra's Karma contains gulten.
Not Innova, California Natural, etal and Nutra claims they did
not buy Chinese glutens.

Besides home cooked, my DOG got well while eating only EVO,
California Natural and Solid Gold canned food.

18  Dry and Wet Foods / Kumpi / Re: Kumpi Saved My Cat From A Burning Building on: April 20, 2007, 04:47:51 PM
Why gamble?
Be smart!
Don't give them Kumpi, too many posts say it's good.
Feed them only things that too many posts say it's bad.

Chinese wheat, rice and corn gluten has to be the best
too many say they're bad.

19  Dry and Wet Foods / Kumpi / Re: Kumpi's Bandwagon on: April 20, 2007, 04:37:57 PM
Don't let these folks scare you off of Kumpi.

They sound just like the fundamental moslems telling
people not to get vaccinated, because it will kill them.

Read my post in "Dog Nutrition"

I'm a retired environmental engineer, in short I know toxicology,
organic chemistry, cellular biology, communicable diseases and
geotechnology.
I had to know all these thing to protect people, like cleaning
the water loaded with toxins and pathogens that people flush down
the drain not knowing that people drink the same water downstream.

How many people know 80-90% of birth control hormones and
gets flushed down the drain? Guess what it's doing to the aquatic
life forms we eat?

There are very good reasons for giving my sick dog California Natural
and now EVO, both canned by Menu Food.

Knowledge of science and technology and calm logic vs
"don't use it! Too many people say it's good."
duh

20  Dry and Wet Foods / Kumpi / Re: Kumpi Dog Food on: April 20, 2007, 12:11:10 AM
I'm the only one to post positive RESULT using Solid Gold and Cal Nat
So, by your logic, I'm not scamming when I also said I gave my dog
Kumpi.

I lived in NYC for over 50 years.

BTW, you don't have to give your pet anything that works for
too many people.
21  Dry and Wet Foods / Solid Gold / Solid Gold canned DOG food :) on: April 19, 2007, 07:37:36 PM
When my dog was sick, I gave her only Solid Gold CANNED.

For 2 days, before she became fully normal, I alternate
SG with canned California Natural (5 cans in 2 days).

Full history is in "Dog Nutrition" of this forum.

NOTE CANNED Cal Nat is made at Menu Food

Geff, THNX

Beneful had been running several times a day on the USA north-east.

Yesterday was the 1st day I haven't seen any ad.

24  Dogs / Dog Nutrition / My dog's food and illness history on: April 17, 2007, 10:31:08 AM
I suspect one or more of:
WalMart's "Special KITTY" canned food
Nutro Natural Choice "Small Bites Senior" dry food
Merick's "Lamb Filet Squares" treat
IAMS "Lamb Meal & Rice Formula" dry food.

NOTE:
Our DOG hates dry food but will eat it when mixed with wet CAT food.

Before the Recall:
Diet
WalMart's "Special KITTY" CANned food
Nutro Natural Choice "Small Bites Senior" dry food
Merick's "Lamb Filet Squares" treat
Home cooked hot dog, cheese and table scraps.

Our dog was drinking lots n lots of water and pooping less.
Our very active dog walked slow and slept a lot.

March 16
Because of the recall news, we fed her home cooked food only.
Cooked eggs, olive oil, cheese and dogs-friendly-vegies

March 27
At this point she was almost normal, so believing FDA,
we started IAMS "Lamb Meal & Rice" dry (wheat free)

March 30
We notice she was little bit less perky and drank little more
water than usual.

ADD to my suspect list: IAMS wheat-free-dry.

April 1
Back on home cooking and 1 Merrick Sq a day.

April 10
Started Solid Gold CANNED food (not made at Menu Food or Diamond)
and Kumpi Senior Dry

April 12
Almost normal so I gave her more Merrick sq through out the day,
to celebrate.
Later, I noticed her drinking slightly more water than usual
so I stopped giving her Merrick sq and watched her.

That evening she threw up Solid Gold/Kumpi mix an hour
after eating only half her normal amount.

April 13
Still sick and did not eat all day, not even her favorite
Lamb squares... she DID try to eat cat poop, her favorite
street food. Embarrassed

April 14
Ate Solid G and California Natural canned foods.

NOTE:
Cal Nat is made in Menu Food

April 15
She appeared about the same as before the Merrick sq's.
So I added Kumpi to her diet and replaced Merick sq
with Kraft's "Milk Bone"

April 17
She's normal!! 1st time since early March.
Today she's back to her old energetic self.
She zips around sniffing and doesn't walk but trots,
except when she's sniffing for cat poop Roll Eyes

Future
I've settled on Solid Gold canned over Cal Nat because CN is thick
and doesn't have gravy to soak Kumpi.
Also, "Milk Bone" for treats.

Next, I'll try dry CN and Back to Basics so she doesn't get bored with Kumpi.
25  Dry and Wet Foods / General Discussion about Dry and Wet Packaged Foods / Re: Online pet food ordering on: April 15, 2007, 10:46:29 AM
Kumpi's email response was quick.

My order (Senior) was FedEx out the SAME day!

My dog has always hated dry food (IAMS, Hills & Nutro)
but she ate Kumpi out of my hand like it was a treat!

I 2nd this.

The Blog had postings where the brand was named
without specifying 'wet or dry' food.
