1  Recall Related Information / Recall News / China closes 180 food factories... on: June 27, 2007, 06:31:55 AM
From BBC TV news cast.

"China has closed 180 food factories after inspectors found industrial
chemicals were being used in a variety of products, including candy
and seafood.

The closure come just six months after a launch of a nation wide crack
down on shoddy and dangerous products. Officials found illegal dyes
and industrial wax were being used to make candies, pickles, crackers
and sea foods.

Chinese made toothpaste has also been rejected in several countries
in Asia, and South and North America. (Once ?) Chinese produced
wheat gluten has been blamed for dog and cat deaths in North America.

On that gastronomic note ha ha ha (her laughter prevents the reporter from
finishing her sentence)... "

Reporter to co-anchor, "... ha ha ha the expression on your face ha ha ha..."

Co anchor, "what a gasthly story..."

Reporter, "...  that says it all... ha ha ha"

Co anchor, "... oh dear."

One guess would be Natura (makes Innova, EVO, Cal Nat, etc).

They announced they were looking to buy an existing plant or build one.
That was around the end of March or beginning of April.

Our dog is doing fine on Kumpi and EVO dries.

We started Kumpi 2 months agoe (April 10)

Our dog is OK after a month on dry EVO since May 7.

When she eats too much grass/weed, she will throw up.

Caution: People often use weed killers and we only let her eat
grass in parks. If we see any out of season dead or browning
weeds, we know that the park department has come through
spraying weed killer.

You couldn't pay me to feed Hills...sick animal or not.

Same here. My dog has hated kibble until we switched to Kumpi
& EVO RM.

She even likes EVO as a treat and ignores her previous favorite Milk Bone.
She has hated Iams, Nutro & Hill's dries for 10 years.

FWIW she liked a sample pack of Breeder's Choice dry.

6  Dry and Wet Foods / Avoderm / Breeder's Choice DRY on: May 19, 2007, 05:52:48 AM
Does this belong in "Avoderm" ?

Read Breeder's Choice info on Therese's list (THANKS) and gave a sample
of " Active Care Lamb and Brown Rice Formula"
My dog liked it. She hates dry food by Hill's Science, IAMS and Nutro.

Partial info from T's "Pet Food List"

# All dry foods are  made by Breeder's Choice in their own facility in Irwindale, CA.

7  Dry and Wet Foods / Innova / Re: Does anyone have any feedback on Innova EVO dry cat foods? on: May 15, 2007, 09:59:06 AM
Here's a list made by rchow in Solid Gold brand section:
http://thepetfoodlist.com/forums/index.php?topic=157.0

A few brands that I have found which has lower phosphorus (<.95%):
- California Natural Chicken and Rice Cat Dry (.79%)
- Fromm 4-star Salmon Cat Dry (0.80%)
- Fromm Senior Gold Cat Dry (0.80%)
- Innova Reduced Fat Cat Dry (.95%)
- Life Abundance Cat Dry (.80%)
- Wysong's Geriatrx Cat Dry (~.80% or so, but I haven't confirmed this with the company)

Innova products are in bold.

Thanks for your postings.

I gave my dog EVO RM dry, after reading your 1st post.
It's been 10 days and she still loves it!
Her energy is now 90-95% of normal.

She's hated kibbles for 10 years and EVO is the 1st one
she like better than canned EVO and Solid Gold.

EVO Chicken-Turkey dry & Solid Gold Lamb canned
ties as her 2nd favorite.

Next, I'll see how she likes Cal Nat Lamb canned
and I'll be dropping Kumpi.

Thanks for sharing your experience w/ EVO.

When my cans of Cal. Nat. & Solid Gold runs out, I'll have her on
EVO canned & dry.

My dog has hated kibble for 11 years but she loved the sample
bag of EVO dry and she's getting bored w/ Kumpi.

FWIW Her dry 'junk' food were Hill's Science, Nutro and Iams.

10  Dry and Wet Foods / Evo / Re: Feeding My 3 Dogs, 2 Cats & 3 Ferrets Evo Dry on: May 06, 2007, 07:58:58 AM
CALORIES !!!
That may be why my g'hound mutt doesn't have full energy.
Premium foods and no junk food & treats.

Thanks Geff.

FWIW
She used to let me jog 2-3 blocks ahead and run full speed to catch me,
then jump up and down to lick my face... or rip my throat w/ her
german shepherd jaw (joking).

Her energy is now 85-90% of January level.
11  Dogs / Dog Nutrition / Re: My dog's food and illness history on: May 01, 2007, 09:40:42 AM
THANKS! We really appreciate your concern.

She's 90% recovered!  Smiley !!!
All her tests came back clean at last.
Her energy level is now 90% and
Wife & I have been catching up on our sleep.

We still watch how much water she drinks, etc.
It's a practice I'll continue for her and us humans.

We believe that feeding her home cooked once or
twice a day, for 11 years, reduced the melamine
she got daily, this March.

Best to ALL, meow meow, woof woof

12  Dry and Wet Foods / Diamond / Diamond lied to Therese on: April 27, 2007, 05:41:45 AM
"I was assured that they do not use rice protein concentrate in any of their own products." - Therese

---

Due to American Nutrition’s recall, the following Diamond Pet Food can formulations are being recalled:

    * Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Kitten Formula cans
    * Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Puppy Formula cans
    * Diamond Lamb & Rice Formula cans

... none of the above Diamond products list rice protein concentrate.

Diamond’s homepage still claims “WHEAT GLUTEN OR RICE PROTEIN CONCENTRATE IS NOT USED in any of our dry, canned or treat products.”

- From Itchmo.com

I guess Diamond lied to us too
13  Dry and Wet Foods / California Natural / Re: California Natural Dog on: April 24, 2007, 03:44:04 PM
I've fed my dog WET Cal Nat during her recovery.

Her energy is now almost 90% of normal and
her blood work came back clean today  Grin

I also gave her Kumpi dry, mixed w/ Cal Nat.
I alternated Cal Nat with Solid Gold (canned).

I am now giving her home cooking, wet Solid Gold and
wet EVO, each one once a day and always mixed w/
Kumpi dry.

UPDATE I'm switching to their EVO line of wet food
when my stock of CN (Exp. 1/4/09) is done.

14  Recall Related Information / General Recall Discussion / Re: Blue Buffalo statement on: April 22, 2007, 11:34:01 AM
Blue Buff did NOT import from China.

BB bought glutens from USA's ChemNutra

ChemNutra is and importer, BB is not.
